Textiles-UK is a new one day conference, co-hosted by SDC, Dyers' Company and Clothworkers' Company. With the launch of the Wool Project by HRH Prince Charles in 2010, this year's SDC conference takes wool as its theme.

This event will look at:

  • The vital role of the wool industry in the UK, including the impact on the UK economy
  • Its technical properties and diversity of uses
  • The many benefits of using wool including its role in sustainability and as an environmentally friendly fibre
  • The future – the use of technology, the innovations and the potential for wool
Speakers include:
  • Malcolm Campbell – Wool, the cloth of kings, from crib to coffin
  • Rebecca Sharp, Australian Wool Innovation – Merino wool, making the best better through innovation
  • David Lewis, University of Leeds – The digital printing of woollen textiles
  • Peter Duffield, Global Textiles Associates – Achieving sustainability in the wool supply chain
  • Bill Macbeth, Textile Centre of Excellence
  • And more, including a major retailer. The chair is Eric Musgrave, Director General of ukft
