British Textile Week 22: Henry Bertrand
Since 1885, Henry Bertrand has been supplying Couturiers, Bridal Designers, Design Houses, as well as Film, theatre and Opera Houses with the most beautiful, luxury silk fabrics.
Regularly seen on the catwalks of London, Paris, Milan, Berlin and New York fashion shows, in addition to Europe’s Royal families, the company’s exquisite weaves have gained worldwide recognition.
Now based in London, Henry Bertrand is one of Europe’s suppliers of European High Quality Silk and Silk blends, weaving principally in England, France, Switzerland and Italy.
Its ethos is simple: “to deliver flexibility, creativity and service”.
Using its extensive expertise, Henry Bertrand has collaborated more closely with its team of creatives to adapt some of the firm’s standard qualities. The company has used different yarns; found qualities that can be woven in smaller quantities or custom colours to avoid wastage on production runs. New for this season, the firm is offering even more flexibility with a new bespoke dyeing service with low minimums, thus offering even more choice with less waste.
The latest Henry Bertrand summer collection is very much focused on relaxed fun and the liveliness of both texture colour and light.
The collection is focused on clear sharp colours accentuating contrast. The new Casillia fringe, a multi coloured fringe emphasises this.
Innovative yarns have also been used in many different ways to create new effects and structure.
Fluidity is also important, heavier plain silks with lustre and sheen.
Henry Bertrand is also working on ways to continue sourcing responsibly and locally on many of its luxury fabrics. The firm is looking forward to a more colourful, exciting and creative future.
