The Campaign for Wool for British Textile Week

03/09/2020

The Campaign for Wool is a global endeavour initiated by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, in order to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique, natural and sustainable benefits offered by wool. Encouraging collaboration between an international community of woolgrowers, major fashion designers, retailers, manufacturers, artisans and interior designers, the Campaign has been instrumental in educating consumers about the impeccable environmental credentials of wool, and reconnecting them with its myriad of uses – from luxurious fine merino knitwear to fire-retardant insulation for the home.

Currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the Campaign for Wool has influenced new demand for wool on an international scale and has organised many projects and held numerous events in key global markets. However, as new challenges such as COVID-19 emerge, the Campaign endeavours to find new and creative ways to support the wool industry within the UK and abroad.

It is for this reason that The Campaign for Wool is delighted to be collaborating with UKFT in promoting the first ever British Textile Week.

WATCH: Peter Ackroyd outlines the history of the wool textile industry in the UK and discusses future opportunities for growth, including the development of new casual fabrics and a greater focus on the ecological and environmental benefits of wool.

Peter Ackroyd MBE is Chief Operating Officer of The Campaign for Wool.
