The Fashion School students breathe new life into umbrella fabrics

12/09/2019

UKFT academic member The Fashion School has teamed up with fellow UKFT manufacturing member Ince Umbrellas on a new student project using surplus fabrics.

The Fashion School teaches fashion, design and sewing to children aged 6 and over, young people and adults at its two locations in Brighton and Chelsea, London.

Ince Umbrellas, which has been making umbrellas in London for more than 210 years, donated excess fabric to the school which was then used by students to create innovative designs.

“This was our first zero waste project and it has really inspired the children, you can see by the incredible results,” said Caroline Gration, founder of The Fashion School. “Would you like to be part of a circular fashion directive by donating fabric?”

UKFT’s academic members are often looking for excess fabrics to use in projects. To find a new home for textile materials, please get in touch at info@ukft.org.
