A 130-year old start-up: Sustainability in UK Textiles

20/04/2022

Jo Dawson, Chairman of HD® Wool Apparel Insulation, will present A 130-year old start-up: Taking the performance benefits of wool to a new audience at the Sustainability in UK Textiles conference on 12 May 2022.

Jo Dawson HD Wool

Founder Jo Dawson created HD® Wool Apparel Insulation to propel the use of wool in the 21st century as a natural and high performing active insulation, helping to remove plastic from the ocean and reduce climate change. The award-winning natural, renewable, high performance garment insulation is a rapidly growing alternative to synthetic fibres in the Outdoor, Outdoor Pursuits, Luxury and Fashion markets.

In this session, Jo will discuss the trials and tribulations of creating a new start-up out of a heritage business – its parent company is H Dawson, a leading international wool trader since 1888 – as well as outlining the challenges of helping wool reclaim its position as the original performance fibre. He will also present the vision and values of HD® Wool Apparel Insulation, where the wool is fully traceable back to the farm upon which it is grown, sourced via The Woolkeepers®, a bespoke quality assurance platform.
