The company’s range includes a stock supported range of pure wool tartans and Shetland tweeds, as well as a range of blends which are used to create industry-leading fabrics. All woven in West Yorkshire, an area which has been world famous since the 18th century for producing high quality textiles.

Marton Mills began manufacturing knitwear from a factory on Marton Street in Skipton before specialising in woven textiles. In 1996 Marton Mills moved to its current home of Pool-in-Wharfedale in West Yorkshire, an area of Yorkshire which has been world famous since the 18th century for producing high quality textiles.

Leathley: 100% British wool, dyed, spun, woven and finished in Yorkshire

Marton Mills is introducing a new ‘Leathley’ range composed of 100% pure British Wool dyed, spun, woven & finished in Yorkshire. The localised sourcing and manufacturing process of Leathley tags it as one of the mill’s most sustainable fabrics. The fabric possesses a low carbon footprint whilst simultaneously supporting the future of local businesses. Additionally, Leathley is finished with nature in mind. At the end of its useful lifespan it can naturally biodegrade back into the earth, injecting the surrounding soil with nutritious elements, fuelling further life.

Marton Mills

Marton Mills is proud to promote British Wool and has specifically selected wool from two ancient hill breeds; Masham and Bluefaced Leicester. These breeds have evolved to be hardy beings after decades of exposure to our often unpredictable Great British Weather. Their fleeces are hardwearing yet surprisingly soft. Trusted in the hands of expert local dyers and spinners, the fleece of these two separate breeds is meticulously combined to produce a yarn with amplified lustre.

Marton Mills has woven the yarn in a timeless Herringbone structure, resulting in a fabric suitable for jackets and coats. Furthermore, wool’s natural temperature regulating properties make it a fibre to be worn whatever the weather, just like the sheep who roam around our British Isles.

Seasonal Tweed Collection

Working in partnership with Roberts Dyers and Finishers in nearby Keighley and local yarn suppliers, Marton Mills ensures consistently high standards of cloth and continues to flourish within the British textile industry.
The Seasonal Tweed collection embodies the craftsmanship of the firm’s dedicated weavers and the innovative style of the in-house design team. Inspired by natures cyclical rhythms, the collection unites fresh contemporary design with authentic Yorkshire tweed.
