National Weaving, Making Labels in the UK for Over 35 Years | Member Spotlight

National Weaving is a family run textile manufacturing company, specialising in weaving and printing garment labels for the fashion and textile industry. Based in Pembrokeshire, in the South-West of Wales, it focuses on customised garment labels both for smaller British brands and established companies. “We are proud to be a British manufacturer and our mission is to make our quality labels for customers throughout the world from our factory here in Wales,” commented the National Weaving team.

The business was founded in 1987 by Christine Astley, whose daughter Caroline is now at the helm of with the support of her husband Jake, daughter Megan and extended family members. Their workforce also includes weavers, designers, printers, production and customer service assistants.

From woven, printed satin and 100% cotton labels to faux leather, washcare labels and size tabs, National Weaving has manufactured labels in the UK for 35 years. Caroline said:

“British made doesn’t just mean quality, it also means speed. By manufacturing everything at our factory here in the UK, we have full control over quality, plus the production time and priority of orders.”

National Weaving’s Nartbeth-based factory in Pembrokeshire, features a range of innovative electronic loom and printing machinery. “The expertise of our workforce, enables us to produce customised labels, at speed, using sustainable yarns and fabrics, adding those all-important finishing touches to British – made brands,” said Caroline.

In addition to being an accredited ‘Living Wage Employer’, National Weaving works to reduce its carbon footprint including by using recycled yarn sourced in Spain and other production materials from UK suppliers. Caroline explained:

“We are awaiting the installation of solar panels this spring 2023, to power our factory and have made the switch to bags made from recycled materials, recyclable bags, or biodegradable bags, when dispatching our product range.”
