A New Beginning for the Assets of the National Childrenswear Association

09/01/2023

After 80 years representing the interests of the childrenswear sector, the National Childrenswear Association (NCWA) has sadly ceased to trade due to a variety of external pressures.

NCWA was founded during the Second World War by a small group of British childrenswear manufacturers. When rationing was put in place at the time, NCWA worked on establishing rules on the amount of fabric allowed to create each type of utility clothing. Since then, it has been involved in a wide variety of issues. This includes ensuring that childrenswear remains VAT free and developing essential safety standards in the UK and the EU.

NCWA has been a Federated Member of UKFT for many years, as we have previously supported the childrenswear sector. We have notably played a part in facilitating the access to export support. Although NCWA has come to an end, we are very proud that its Council decided to transfer its assets to UKFT. We are looking forward to working closely with the childrenswear industry in the future!
