My background is in… Fashion Design

I decided to start my business because… I was put on furlough from my job as a designer. I started making Hair accessories from leftover fabrics from my University Grad Collection with my new found free time &  was selling them on ETSY.

Something that really helped in getting my business off the ground is… Timing – The fact that people were spending more time on their phones & shopping online, I believe really helped GHL in its early days. Facebook ads & ETSY were working really well together back in 2020 too which helped to build a following and gain sales.

An area of business I’d like to gain more knowledge of is… Marketing! This is definitely an area I am constantly trying to gain more knowledge of as I have no previous skills or experience in this crucial field.

Three important qualities for an entrepreneur are… Perseverance, passion for learning and integrity!

A UKFT Rise subscriber I find inspiring would be… WildPeach! She is so motivated in what she does and is always looking forward to how she can run a more efficient and culturally / sustainably modern brand!

Something happening in the industry that’s inspiring me right now is… The support for small / local brands & the communities that are built around them!

A change I’d like to see in the industry would be… I’d love to see more transparency in the manufacturing process – people still don’t understand that process that goes behind producing a garment.
