The fashion and textile industry is notoriously exclusive and while running a start-up can be hugely rewarding, it can also be challenging and lonely…

We’re here to change that.

UKFT Rise is a community of early-stage (under 3 years trading) fashion and textile businesses looking to build a network of supportive like-minded people. We also welcome anyone who is thinking of starting a fashion/textile company in the near future. (Note: these companies must be selling a product).

Meet UKFT Rise subscriber @daisykingclub co-founded by Tom King and Daisy Bryson 👏
This creative duo has been working together since they met and decided to launch Daisy King in 2019 to create products where they could explore fashion that tells a story. Tom has a background in animation and illustration, and Daisy in fashion design and styling, which has made for a fantastic cocktail of experience to start their own company.
In addition to creating self expressive unisex designs, they aim to keep their carbon footprint and wastage as low as possible by using sustainable fabrics and local factories with low-waste policies.

The cheerful scenes that surround the letters NHS are reminding us that we’re all in this together and how important it is to stay home where possible. Help save lives, support others and help prevent the @nhswebsite from becoming overwhelmed 👏

Key details of the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme are as follows: A taxable grant of 80% of average weekly profits (calculated over the last three years) up to a maximum of £2,500 a month.

To be eligible you must:
- Have trading profits of no more than £50,000 a year.
- The majority of your income must come from self-employed work.
- Have filed a tax return for 2018/19.

The scheme will pay the grant directly to the bank accounts of those eligible for the support. The scheme will run for an initial three months.

HMRC is building the mechanism by which the grants will be paid. It is expected that the grants will start to be paid in June.

Support your community 🌱 We’re excited to share that UKFT Rise subscriber @shiv_textiles is crowdfunding to develop sustainable weaving workshops into schools and mental health charities!
Siobhan founded @shiv_textiles which launched in 2018, with a vision to create a contemporary textile studio with sustainability at its forefront. 🌱✨
Siobhan said: “Slowly and organically my independent business has grown to the point of specialising in ethical woven textiles, short courses and workshops, unique contemporary homewares and lifestyle products that are designed to educate and complement their environments. The studio aims to rediscover how local businesses can thrive alongside global manufacturing companies. The key to supporting our community is producing locally while inspiring and investing in creative community-driven craft workshops. I am committed to celebrating the art of weaving whilst simultaneously reinventing elements of the craft to make my pieces unique.
