Bootcamps

Skills Bootcamps are a government initiative to support employed and unemployed people across the UK to access job opportunities and to help businesses to close skill gaps.

The initiative forms part of the Department for Education’s £2.5bn National Skills Fund, which is part of the Government’s wider Plan for Jobs.

Fashion and Textiles Bootcamp in Greater Manchester

The first Fashion and Textiles Skills Bootcamp has been delivered in Greater Manchester. The programme was developed by UKFT in partnership with Salford College and a group of Greater Manchester employers.

The Bootcamps enabled funded delivery of UKFT’s new Production Sewing Machinist Course across the region. The training was delivered by Salford College, over a period of 16 weeks. The course content included insights into the local industry, technical skills and knowledge and employability skills.

Learners were awarded the UKFT digital badges of achievement when they successfully completed the course and were guaranteed an interview with a local employer.
