Member spotlight: Get Stuff Made sustainable textiles studio for start-ups

04/05/2022

UKFT member Get Stuff Made is a sustainable textiles studio that supports, educates, and guides clothing and accessory start-ups along their design, sampling, and manufacture journeys.

Founded in 2019, Get Stuff Made consists of a specialist team based in Kettering in the UK. Built for people with little to no experience in the industry, they offer a range of services to suit the varying needs of start-ups. They focus on sustainable projects with ethical suppliers, driven by founders who are committed and realistic about launching their brand.

Demi, the founder recognises how overwhelming the process of designing your own custom garments can be. She originally started Get Stuff Made as freelance product developer, taking on more and more brands as the popularity of having a friendly guide and product manager grew.

In 2020, Demi shifted the business to offer a wider range of digital services, including Group Mentoring, Tech Packs and the Do It Right Programme. This year, she expanded the offering with three new courses, and an ever-growing library of downloadable Guides & Templates.

Demi’s aim is to make Get Stuff Made the ‘one stop shop’ for any new brand, no matter their budgets, timelines, or work style.

In 2021, she recognised the need to offer physical services alongside the digital and launched an in-house sampling studio. This has proved very popular, and since then Demi has hired a small team, moved into a Studio down the road from her home office and invested in industrial machines in order to expand this side of the business.

Get Stuff Made is introducing new projects in the Sampling Studio this May, with more availability and new services launching including White Label stock and customisation. Currently, the studio works primarily with UK based small factories with no minimum order quantity (MOQ) catering to their clients. Demi hopes to offer a small cut, make and trim (CMT) service later this year, where the maximum order size would be 50 pieces with no MOQ.  Get Stuff Made plans to grow the team further this year, aiming to have capacity to offer Grading and small CMT production runs in the future.
