UKFT membership expands to include dry cleaning
UKFT has assumed responsibility for the dry cleaning industry from its federated member Textile Services Association (TSA). TSA will continue to be responsible for its commercial laundry members.
“This is a logical move for us as drycleaning is the end process of all the fabrics and garments our members produce and given our long-term involvement with care labelling and the REACH chemical regulations,” said Adam Mansell, UKFT CEO.
Members include a nationwide network of independent dry cleaners and the UK’s largest provider Johnson Cleaners, part of the Timpson Group. UKFT now runs the consumer-facing site www.drycleaningadvice.org and the arbitration service.
“We have recently undertaken several joint initiatives including a well-attended seminar that helped garment producers understand the impact of different cleaning processes available and there are many more areas that will offer strong synergies for our entire membership,” added Mansell. “We are delighted to welcome our new members into the fold.”
