19/08/2022

Bob Harding, Managing Director of leading tufting and weaving machinery specialist Vandewiele UK Ltd, will discuss why new cloud-based technology is driving Industry 4.0 at the Weaving Conference in Huddersfield on 6 October.

The conference will be held by UKFT, in partnership with The Weaving Group at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield, uniting the industry to discuss the latest developments in technology and new opportunities for woven textiles.

Vandewiele specialises in developing, building and integrating innovative textile systems for flooring qualities, home linen, fashion fabrics and technical textiles.

In the session ‘Factory of the Future: Industry 4.0’, Bob will present his vision of how integrated packages combining cutting-edge machines with product-related services like automated planning, remote maintenance and monitoring, can bring a new level of flexibility and productivity.

Delegates can also hear from David Barker, International Sales Manager at Cygnet Texkimp, the world’s largest independent manufacturer and supplier of fibre unwinding creels. Cygnet Texkimp is an export-led UK manufacturer supplying state-of-the-art handling and processing machinery to the international high-performance fibre and fabric industries.

David will present ‘It’s all about the fibre – From creel to despatch’ to outline the latest developments in creels serving a wide range of applications and industry sectors, from traditional textiles to aerospace-grade composites, with efficiency and consistency at their core.

Professor Parik Goswami, head of the Department of Fashion and Textiles at the University of Huddersfield and Director of the University’s Technical Textiles Research Centre (TTRC) and a board member at UKFT, will present a paper entitled ‘Design Thinking and Innovation: Navigating the valley of Death‘.
