Greater Manchester & Lancashire employers: Occupational Traineeship

04/01/2022

Are you an employer in Greater Manchester or Lancashire?

UKFT has developed a new occupational traineeship to encourage young people into the fashion and textiles manufacturing sector.

The programme has been developed in partnership with employers, the Department for Education and Local Authorities, and aims to identify candidates and make them ‘job ready’ for sewn products and textiles manufacturing roles.

Candidates will be aged 16 to 24 years. They will complete a six-week course which includes a minimum of 70-hours work experience, a Level 1 qualification covering the basics in sewing or textiles manufacturing and a job or apprenticeship interview.

UKFT has developed and accredited the programme, has the means to recruit the trainees and the training providers are in place.

We are now looking for employers to take part. You need to be able to offer a minimum of 70 hours work experience and a job/apprenticeship interview at the end of the traineeship.

There are a limited number of 20 fully funded places available across Greater Manchester and Lancashire only, from February 1st 2022.

Traineeships are free to the employer, but they may choose to support trainees with expenses such as transport and meals. Employers can claim an incentive of £1,000 when a work experience placement has been completed.
