Alfred Brown specialises in weaving worsted fabrics from merino wool, the properties of which are good drape, soft texture, strength and versatility. Alfred Brown fabrics are mainly used for men’s suits and jackets.
The company designs and develops new collections seasonally, and also offers over 250 suiting, trouser and jacketing patterns from stock in single and half pieces.

Alfred Brown has famously woven the fabric for the England football team’s World Cup suits on several occasions, and indeed produced the cloth for Gareth Southgate’s much-admired waistcoat during the 2018 Word Cup.

We’ve seen a pleasing rise in British, European, and Asian brands coming to us for our stock supported ranges, benefiting from the accessible minimums and excellent value we’re able to offer as a bulk manufacturer.
There is a wealth of quality and inspiration in British textiles and it’s exciting to see so many brands taking full advantage of this. They bring new creative ideas using heritage cloths and are helping us keep traditional worsted tailoring fabrics relevant in 2020.
Our stocked ranges are adapting in response, undergoing exciting developments, looking at new product lines including a wool linen blend. Alongside, we are expanding existing collections to help satisfy demand from both new and returning customers.
On the bulk side of our business, we have been looking to our archive, refining classic weaves and modernising with a vibrant new range of yarn shades. Our new collection will be sent out to our bulk customers any day now and will be available to view digitally on request.
It’s been a challenging year but we are excited about the opportunities this shake-up will offer.”
