UKFT is committed to helping the UK fashion and textiles industry thrive by promoting a future focused image, a nimble and progressive education infrastructure and an engaging and forward-looking careers guidance system.

We help fashion and textile businesses to attract, train and retain the best.

Individuals with highly specialist and technical skills are one of the most valuable assets in the industry. A workforce equipped to embrace significant developments in innovation and technology is essential to supporting the UK’s position as a global leader in quality, creativity and sustainability.

There are a wide range of training options that businesses can explore. Some will attract public funding for example apprenticeships, traineeships and bootcamps. Others such as short courses, work-based learning, online learning or CPD will require alternative methods of funding.

As the Government-appointed Sector Skills Body for fashion and textiles across all four nations, we look after skills and training at all levels, and we cover all parts of the industry.

UKFT also reviews and approves fashion and textile training courses that have been designed with industry practice in mind.

Approval recognises and promotes high-quality programmes that will equip candidates with the skills required to progress their career and that meet the skills needs of industry, from entry level to higher education and CPD.
