The UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) has announced that it will accompany 56 UK brands to the January 2024 edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence (Italy), where the UK expects to be the largest international group after the host country. Renowned globally for being the largest menswear show of its kind, Pitti Uomo celebrates sartorial excellence, craftsmanship and heritage fashion. The show is a key platform for the UK menswear industry and British manufacturing heritage is at the heart of many brands exhibiting in Florence. At the show, UKFT will debut a new film to unveil the essence of British menswear and the wider UK fashion and textile industry.

‘UK Fashion & Textiles: It’s what we’re made of’ tells the story of great British style underpinned by tradition, quality and craftsmanship. The short film will be played on the UKFT stand at the event. It brings to life the innovation, responsibility and ethical practices that lie at the heart of our ethos. It weaves a narrative of sustainable fashion that stands the test of time from the sartorial elegance of Savile Row – the home of the suit – to up and coming contemporary menswear.

At Pitti Uomo this season, UKFT invites buyers, press and supporters to embrace the iconic and contemporary, celebrate emerging talents and those championing slow fashion, blending Savile Row tailoring with street style influences, subcultures and a rebellious spirit. The UK’s collections are eclectic, elegant, disruptive and eccentric – a manifestation of avant-garde individualism.

UKFT is supported by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), enabling it to coordinate and promote the strength of British heritage and designer menswear and accessories as part of its Global Brands campaign, which will also be showing in Paris and Chicago this year.

Most companies which showed in June will return in January, including: Carl Friedrik, Elizabeth Parker, Fox Umbrellas, Hardy & Parsons, Invertère, John Smedley, Johnstons of Elgin, Kangol, Leathersmith of London, Only the Blind, Tateossian, The Cambridge Satchel Company and Walker Slater.

Nine footwear brands will be part of the group, including Edward Green, Cheaney, Crockett & Jones, Loake, Loungers, Sanders, Tricker’s, Barker England and Yogi Footwear.

New British exhibitors joining Pitti Uomo this season include Alan Scott, Channel Jumper, McGeorge of Scotland, Oats and Rice, Stefan Cooke and W. Rubens. This is the largest intake of new British brands since Covid and these companies are looking forward to presenting their collections to Pitti Uomo’s international buyers from across the EU, the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea and the rest of the world.

Steven Stokey-Daley will be the guest designer at Pitti Uomo with the eponymous S.S. Daley brand. Not even 30 years old yet already esteemed, the Liverpudlian designer will be bringing his ‘made in Britain’ collection to Florence with a catwalk show event staged in his own characteristic style. S.S. Daley aims to revisit and dismantle typical ideas of British heritage, subverting them into a modern context from the perspective of his working-class heritage. Worn by UK celebrity Harry Styles and winning the LVMH Young Fashion Designer prize, the brand is stocked in Saks 5th Avenue, Dover Street Market, MatchesFashion, Bergdorf Goodman, 10 Corso Como and IT Store.

UKFT is looking forward to meeting buyers and press wishing to connect with UK exhibitors and businesses on its industry stand supported by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the GREAT campaign in Salone M, on the lower floor of the central pavilion.

Paul Alger MBE, Director of International Business at UKFT, said:

“Join us in our celebration of British menswear and the wider UK fashion and textile industry: where every thread tells a story and every garment is a canvas for self-expression. The British menswear industry is an ode to the past, a celebration of the present, and a promise for a sustainable and inspiring future. UKFT is proud to bring a strong and diverse group of British menswear and accessories to Pitti Uomo to launch the international menswear collections for AW24/5.”
