Circularity and the wish to transform the way people buy, wear and consume clothing are the driving forces behind the London-based fashion brand Fanfare Label. Founded in 2019 by former fashion buyer Esther Knight, the brand offers women’s jeans and clothing made of certified sustainable fabrics such as GOTS Certified Organic Cotton and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Cotton, as well as deadstock fabric, wool off-cuts and recycled polyester. Agnese Proveja, Branding and Community Manager at Fanfare Label, commented:

“Fanfare Label has two collections. Their ‘Sustainably Created’ collection, made slowly from certified sustainable fabrics. Designed to last a lifetime, this collection focuses primarily on denim as well as linen sets, tees, jackets and accessories.

Alongside this, there is the ‘Fanfare Repurposed’ collection of upcycled style-led statement jeans. The team rescues textiles that would have been deemed waste and destined for landfills and recycle, repurpose and redesign them to create one-of-a-kind denim pieces. “

Esther’s mission with Fanfare Label has been to create an alternative to the way garments are made, while educating consumers on making more conscious decisions when shopping. This is why the brand only produces long-lasting garments that can withstand seasonal trends and be part of a circular fashion system. Agnese said:

“Only 1% of all fashion products are recycled or upcycled, Fanfare Label aims to reduce this waste by turning excess clothing and textiles into unique contemporary designs. By opting for seasonless collections as opposed to trend-led ranges, Fanfare Label is able to reduce the amount of pressure on the supply chain, and instead create quality clothing that lasts.

Should your Fanfare Label piece need a repair or has reached the end of its time, the brand can also assist to continue its life cycle.”

Traditionally, the jeans-making process is water intensive. However, Fanfare Label’s organic and recycled jeans save 92% water in comparison to conventional jeans. Made from post-consumer waste, they are fully certified by the Global Recycling Standard, Organic Content Standard and Oeko-Tex. In addition, Fanfare Label’s jeans are handcrafted and can be customised to fit each customer’s own style. Agnese explained:

“Each pair of Fanfare Label jeans are handcrafted, meaning each pair is unique in style and fit. Fanfare Label also offers an upcycling service where customers can send in their jeans to be completely reinvented. They can embroider any pattern, any writing, or even paint directly onto the jeans to create a style that is completely bespoke to the customer.”
