The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust supports families across the UK

12/06/2023

UKFT’s chosen charity partner, The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT), is the only organisation dedicated to supporting children from fashion and textile families in the UK. FTCT will organise a fundraising raffle at our Member Summer Reception on 19th July. For £10 per ticket, guests will have the chance to win prizes generously donated by UKFT members.

The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust is a charity providing grants to parents and carers working in the UK fashion and textile industry, who are facing financial hardship. The grants offered by FTCT help fund children’s essential items, including clothing, bedroom furniture and essential appliances (washing machines, fridges and ovens). The charity also funds specialist equipment such as sensory toys, mobility equipment and therapies for children with additional health or learning needs.

Earlier this year, UKFT announced its partnership with FTCT, naming the trust as its chosen charity. Adam Mansell, CEO of UKFT, said:

“FTCT are a fantastic charity. They do amazing work with people in the fashion and textile sector. As life gets harder for some, we are proud to partner with FTCT to help the children of those who have been part of our industry.”

Back in March 2023, FTCT took over UKFT’s social media channels for a week to promote the Trust’s work to a wider audience and to celebrate the beginning of this exciting partnership. Anna Pangbourne, CEO of FTCT, said:

“So many families right across the sector are struggling financially and it is important for them to know that there is this unique charity that’s there solely to support them.”

Following the takeover week, FTCT has established and renewed collaborations with several UKFT members, including LLUK and ACS Clothing. There are two main ways companies can support the charity:

  • By promoting grants to their staff
  • By making a financial donation to support FTCT’s work

Erin Moore, Office Manager at LLUK, commented:

“Here at LLUK, we are constantly striving to be the best employers we can be in looking after our staff. We have an open-door approach in encouraging the staff to reach out and ask if they need any help personal or at work. FTCT’s ethos fits with that perfectly and provides excellent support on top of what we can offer as a company.

The fact the staff can apply anonymously too, really ensures we are offering help to everyone, even those that are afraid to ask or speak out about it. Anna has been super helpful in our onboarding process and we can’t wait to continue this partnership through the years to come.”
