Highlights of Pitti Uomo (January 2023 – Florence – Italy)

16/01/2023

We were pleased to celebrate men’s fashion last week at Pitti Uomo, alongside 48 UK businesses supported by UKFT and the Department for International Trade (DIT). As one of the top international events for men’s fashion, the show brings together key actors from the industry.

Influential buyers, designers, brands and retailers from around the world meet there twice a year to discover the latest menswear trends and collections. The AW23 edition welcomed 789 exhibitors, amongst which 40% were international brands.

Over 4 days, a buzz of excitement built up in the Fortezza de Basso, the 16th century fortress that hosts every edition of Pitti Uomo. This historic building provides a stunning backdrop for fashion displays as well as a beautiful setting for the elegantly dressed “Pitti peacocks” and their flawless tailored suits.

As Florence is home to a rich culture of art, beauty and history, it only makes sense that a show like Pitti Uomo is held in this location. In fact, numerous designers drew their inspiration from the capital of Tuscany to create collections that combine modernity and timelessness.

A number of smaller presentations and exhibitions took place throughout the event in parallel with the main runway shows, offering a diverse range of styles to suit all tastes. Spanning a mix of traditional and contemporary designs, many exhibitors strongly emphasised fine tailoring and craftsmanship.

Pitti Uomo proved us again that it is an unmissable event for anyone involved in menswear fashion. Equally important for buyers, journalists and brands, it stays an essential platform for the fashion industry.
