02/05/2023

LLUK – short for Luxury Lockstitch UK – is a bespoke manufacturing facility for the luxury textile and goods sector. It provides a wide range of finishing services spanning fashion, homeware, and hospitality. An expert in lockstitch, blanket-stitch, hand-sewing and embroidery, LLUK works with its clients and partners to secure the future of UK manufacturing. The LLUK team said:

“With strong ethical principles and adherence to social responsibilities, we are fully audited and approved by standards set by our high-end couture clients and industry bodies. We work with our partners and clients to enhance and secure the future for manufacturing in the UK and build on the UKs heritage in textiles.”

LLUK was founded in 2018 by Rachel Walker, who began her manufacturing journey in 2011. The female-led business considerably expanded in just a few years:

“The first location was in Dunstable, with 14 employees and 3,000 sq ft of space with only lockstitch and overlocking machines. Later, that year, the facility relocated to The Old Boathouse in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, where the team increased to 17 employees, space grew to 5,000 sq ft and additional skills in the form of blanket stitching and hand sewing services became available.

In 2019, services expanded again with the launch of a fashion embroidery department. This new department offered branding, monogramming, patches and specialist finishes using a 6-head ZSK machine as well as foil and heat pressing services.”

Production had to cease for 8 months in 2020 due to the global pandemic. However, LLUK recovered from this hiatus and continued to grow in 2021:

“The beginning of 2021 marked a new dawn for LLUK. It was clear that expansion was necessary to meet the increased demand, so the neighbouring building provided an additional 1,500 sq ft of space and two new services; swimwear production and tailored clothing.

In September 2021, a bigger move was needed. LLUK relocated once again, to a larger facility in central Maidenhead with 10,500 sq ft of space, 30 employees, and additional floor space to support our future expansion plans.”

Now based in Maidenhead, LLUK has a team of over 60 employees:

“As of January 2023, LLUK continues to embody momentum and a constant quest for excellence. Our team of 60+ employees operates in Maidenhead, providing over 7 specialist services and is committed to delivering a redefined manufacturing service to global luxury brands. We pay meticulous attention to detail and strive for perfection in everything we do.”

The business is firmly dedicated to the development and training of its employees, as well as to its overall growth:

We will increase our facility footprint and offer more services working with an every-growing client base, solving problems and helping clients deliver efficiently and in-line with their future growth plans, realising their true commercial potential.”

Within the next 12 months, LLUX aims to offer a new range of managed services including darning, collar linking, cushion inner production, kilting service and tie making.

“LLUK must cultivate the highest level of quality, service and growth, not simply to maintain it year after year, but also to elevate it as we continually set even higher standards in everything that we do,” said the LLUK team.
