This week’s spotlight is on UKFT Member Marro Designs, a contemporary fashion brand based in Aberdeen. “I joined UKFT in order to have access to business and legal assistance and networking possibilities through the UKFT website, newsletter, and social media,” said Marro, founder of Marro Designs.

UKFT Member Marro Designs is a contemporary fashion brand inspired by the indigenous culture and the natural world. Founded by Oghenemarro Offeh (also known as Marro) the brand integrates elements from vintage designs and current trends into its collections. “Marro combines Native African print cloth and Western plain and pattern fabrics, as well as specially sourced indigenous accessories. These garments may be linked back to her unique Nigerian culture,” commented Marro Designs.
Marro Designs’ ready-to-wear range is announced to be launching soon, as its production is currently underway. All clothes are created by Marro, from her sewing room located in Aberdeen.
Marro’s passion for fashion transpires into her creations, her studies and career path. She first enrolled in an apprenticeship programme encompassing women’s, children’s and men’s clothing. Marro Designs said:
“Shortly after receiving admission to the higher institution to study a Higher National Diploma in Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, Marro graduated after five years with a Distinction.”
Over the years, Marro worked with several designers such as Mai Atafo and Las Maureen Designs. Marro Designs explained:
“In 2019, she and her family relocated to the UK where she continued to develop her brand and personal style while wearing her clothing line and being recognisable for her originality.”
Since launching her brand, Marro has been praised for her contemporary designs and was awarded Best Contemporary Fashion Designer in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire at the Fashion Art Media Awards ceremony held during Aberdeen Fashion Week, May 2022.
