What’s new at Textile Forum? 13-14 October 2021 in London

31/08/2021

There’s an abundance of new luxury fabrics and trimmings at the autumn Textile Forum (13-14 October 2021, One Marylebone, London) from soft silks, laces and cottons, through to top quality wools and leathers and everything in between.

Many of the regular exhibitors have been working hard since the last show to improve their fabrics and presentation as well as introduce new qualities to tempt both existing and potential customers.

Fabric Godmother Wholesale

The show is welcoming first-time exhibitor Fabric Godmother Wholesale, which specialises in printed cotton lawns, twills, crepes and sateens featuring timeless bold designs. Its owners are dress makers and sewists, who are passionate about the fabric design process and always consider the finished garment and how the fabric will look, fall and move when worn. The factories producing the wholesale range are Oeko-Tex standard 100 certified.

Michael's Bridal Fabrics

Sustainability is topmost in mind of Michael’s Bridal Fabrics, which has introduced a new book for fabrics that are available in an eco-friendly version. There are qualities that are exact replicas of fabrics it already runs, such as crepes, satins, mikados, organzas and tulles, with some, or all, of the yarns, replaced with recycled versions.

Fabrics in natural products, such as organic bamboo, oranges, bananas, milk and rose petals can also be found in the collection, alongside organic cottons and viscose designs, where the trees that are cut down to be turned into wood pulp are replaced with new ones. Also new are fancy tulles featuring organic cotton or recycled polyester yarn for the embroideries.

Knipidee

Litmans Fabrics, best known for its plain and fancy fabrics for day and bridalwear, is now the sole distributor for Knipidee Fabrics in the UK and Ireland. This adds fabrics such Lurex melanges, bouclettes, printed chiffons, scuba crepe and plain and printed bengalines to its offer. Litmans is also the home for Jane Makower fabrics.

Bernstein Banleys

Bernstein & Banleys

New from Bernstein & Banleys is the Suffolk Collection, a pure silk jacquard woven exclusively in the UK.  It works as an outer fabric for waistcoats and period style frock coats, for instance, as well as a lining.

Pongees is introducing a larger selection of colours within its tulle range and has also updated its shade cards to include a large feeler. While most of its sales are within the women’s, bridal, lingerie and interiors sectors, Pongees is seeing increased interest from tailors and menswear designers so will be launching a specialist catalogue that covers this sector at Textile Forum.

The above companies will be joined by, among others, The London Embroidery Company, Graham Smith, Carrington Fabrics, Partap, The National Weaving Company, Laurent Garigue, Henry Bertrand, James Hare, Anbo, Marvic and Jones Brothers.

There will also be a group of garment manufacturers showing under the UKFT banner.

Textile Forum at One Marylebone will be open 10am to 5pm Wednesday and Thursday 13-14 October 2021.
