Company launched in: Wrap Couture was launched in December 2021.

Company based in: Edinburgh, UK.

How many people are in your team? A dedicated team and I. As well as freelancers who specialise in Copywriting, modelling & marketing.

My background is in… Art, Entrepreneurship and Fashion design.

I decided to start my business because… I was inspired by my mother’s entrepreneurial skills that I gained from helping her as a sole trader and she supported me to organise pop up shops at fashion shows and Eid celebration events that celebrated Muslim women. As well as my studies at (U.C.A), University of Creative Arts, Epsom.

Something that really helped in getting my business off the ground is… Working and building your dreams may be a lonely exploit but UKFT Rise kept in touch with me and continued to support me by believing in my dreams and showing me the basics of how to get there. Along the way they have continued to communicate opportunities available and starting from improving my designs, showing me the places that creatives can develop, pop-up shops that I can utilise to develop my entrepreneurial side.

One thing that’s going really well is… Organising my accounts and not falling prey to the magpie syndrome has been one of a few successes. Other things that have really been going well is to understand and take steps to outsourcing the areas of business. As a founder, you often wear many hats and do the role of a team of people. So, outsourcing has helped me to continue to work on my business while another person can focus on another task at hand.

An area of business I’d like to gain more knowledge of is… As a founder, I realise that you never stop learning. But, one area of business I‘d like to gain more is in working with my customers after sales. There is a big push on the first process of getting customers to purchase. But what keeps them coming back?

Something happening in the industry that’s inspiring me right now is… Activism is something that is happening in the industry that’s inspiring me right now and the push towards a more circular system in up-cycling and reusing clothing to make an effort towards change in the way we look after our planet. Fashion is the second highest polluting industry, that means our environment is impacted due to unsafe ways in disposing of our clothing.

One thing I wish I’d known before launching is… To understand the circular system in tracing your fabrics better in order to start thinking and acting and encouraging others to use quality but degradable fabrics and reuse un-degradable fabrics in a way that doesn’t harm the environment.

Success for me looks like… Giving back yourself the time to rest and develop yourself to be a leader that can work on your business and not always in your business operations.
