Samuel Brothers are bespoke tailors and military uniform specialists founded over 190 years ago. Their story is closely connected to the British military history, as they were leading exporters of uniforms in Europe back at the turn of last century. Samuel Brothers produced uniforms for the British Army in both World Wars, and were commissioned by the War Office to make waterproof coat for British Officers involved in the First World War.

Samuel Brothers also produced livery (uniforms worn by employees and staff) to many London-based companies and even overseas, to the White House. The Samuel Brothers team said:

“Samuel Brothers are bespoke tailors and were established in 1830 on Ludgate Hill, London.  The company has a rich history, and supplied Livery to the White House as well as contribute to uniform making in both World Wars supporting the war effort.”

Originally based in London, Samuel Brothers were invited to relocate its headquarters to the Royal Logistic Corps in 1993. In 2016, they finally moved to their current location in Aldershot (Hampshire), the Home of The British Army. They commented:

“Our offices are in Aldershot (Home of The British Army) with our workrooms in Harwich, Essex. Samuel Brothers supports UKFT and British manufacturing and has been a proactive ‘champion’ in activities to ensure that the trade continues to flourish. The company is keen to support a UK supply line from buttons through to cloth.”

Now focusing on their military heritage, Samuel Brothers provide uniforms for the British Ministry of Defence. They said:

“The focus today is on its military heritage, making uniforms for both the Ministry of Defence as well as supporting an exporting market in uniforms and accoutrement into the Commonwealth and beyond.”

The tailors’ work has been rewarded several times since their creation in 1830. Samuel Brothers were awarded a Gold Medal & Diploma of Honour in 1908 at the Franco-British Exhibition. They also hold a Royal Warrant to Her Majesty The Queen as Tailors since 2017 (they have been supplying the Royal Household since 2011). There are currently only about 800 Royal Warrant holders in the UK and this recognition is a symbol of service, quality and excellence.

The Samuel Brothers team said:

“Samuel Brothers’ reputation is the foundation of its continued success. The company is proud to hold a Royal Warrant as Tailors to HM The Queen.”
