Carl Friedrik is a London-based leather and travel goods brand, founded in 2012 by two Swedish brothers.

Their collection — spanning bags, luggage, home office accessories and small leather goods — is tailored towards the demanding lifestyle of the modern professional. The Carl Friedrik story

Inspiration for the brand came in 2012 when the two brothers (Mattis and Niklas) sought to gift a leather laptop case for Christmas. Finding a product that balanced expert craftsmanship with contemporary design, and still offered good value for money, proved elusive. So the two set out to do just that — and Carl Friedrik [formerly Oppermann London] was born out of their bedroom.

A decade later, the twin pillars of intelligent design and long-lasting quality continue to underpin everything they do. By working with only the finest materials (such as their sustainably-sourced, vegetable-tanned leather) and artisan factories available, they are confident enough to offer a lifetime guarantee across the entire range.

Carl Friedrik’s signature pared-back aesthetic takes visual cues from the Scandinavian minimalist movement. Nothing is inessential, nothing is out of place.

Carl Friedrik x Succession

In 2021, Carl Friedrik’s bags and suitcases featured in the third series of HBO’s Emmy award-winning TV series, Succession. Co-founder, Niklas Oppermann, said: “Succession is the ideal show for our luggage to appear on. After all, the range is designed to meet the demands of the globe-trotting business traveller.”

2022 and beyond
