UKFT member Premier Textiles is a Manchester-based leading importer of yarns and fabrics sourced from around the world. The company has recently launched a new venture called Premier Digital Textiles to specialise in textiles for the digital textile printing industry.

Premier Textiles

Founded in 1981, Premier Textiles is a family-owned, independent business, which was set up to import, stock, and distribute yarns and fabrics to the UK textile manufacturing industry.

Premier Textiles later diversified its supplier base and widened its customer base with a particular focus on supplying industrial and medical weavers and specialist textile converters.

Premier Textiles

Premier Textiles is a textile specialist and expert in its field, with unrivalled knowledge from yarn right through to dyeing and finishing. This has helped Premier over the years evolve from being an importer of commodity raw materials to working closely with UK dyers and finishers to support a wide range of dyed and finished fabrics. Today Premier’s product groups are clearly yarn, loomstate (greige) fabrics, UK finished fabrics, imported finished fabrics, and made-ups.

Premier Textiles

Premier Textiles supply an extensive range of base cloths to customers worldwide. They are spread across two sites in the North West of England with over a combined 35,000sq ft of warehouse space, enabling them to quickly deliver a wide variety of stock to textile manufacturers. With large stocks of Yarn and Woven fabrics, they can support manufacturers and processors. Stocks include cotton/cotton blends, including poly cotton, linen cotton, linen blends & linen unions. Their large stock holding means that they can supply into UK textile markets just in time. These markets include furnishing, home textiles, Kitchen textiles, upholstery (general & industrial), apparel, industrial, and technical.

Premier Textiles

Dedicated to ensuring quality and consistency, Premier has built close relationships throughout the supply chain. Working directly with offshore mills, and UK processors to develop new fabrics to bring to the market. Premier Textiles can offer stock fabrics that comply with a variety of modern environmental, ethical, and quality standards.

Since 2012 Premier has also developed fabrics specially prepared for the rapidly growing digital print market. This includes fabrics specifically prepared for pigment, reactive, and latex inks to ensure maximum colour optimisation and fastness to washing and light.

Premier Textiles

Alongside this, Premier was the first to bring to market polyester fabrics engineered to mimic the look and feel of natural fabrics but suitable for dye sublimation printing. The success of these developments and being at the forefront of innovation has meant a new business will commence in 2022 under Premier Digital Textiles. The new distribution and innovation facility will be based at Premier’s second site in Bury, Lancashire, and will be run by a specialist team.
