UKFT welcomes the agreement in principle for a Trade Agreement to be agreed between the UK and Australian governments. This is the first of the UK’s “new” trade agreements (i.e. it is the first agreement to be made in principle which does not replicate an agreement the UK previously benefitted while it was a member of the European Union) and it marks an important step in the UK’s new relationship with the world.

As with all trade agreements, the devil will be in the detail and we look forward to seeing the final text and Rules of Origin details for this agreement.”
