Putting the spotlight on UK textiles in Paris

10/02/2020

The rich heritage and innovative future of the UK textile industry will be on show at Première Vision Paris this week, demonstrating a strong sector that is well prepared for a new era in international trade.

The UK textile industry has a global reputation for its mills which supply some of the finest fabrics to the world’s most prestigious luxury brands, designers and tailors. This season, UKFT is enhancing the information area in the Fabrics Hall to present the stylish, contemporary image of today’s UK industry that is sought after around the world.

The UKFT display will highlight key fabric selections from UK mills that particularly reflect the mood of the season, including, wool, silk, linen, cashmere and novelty fabrics, as well as innovative fabrics such as those made from pineapple leaf fibre. UK textile companies are known in all the major markets for producing exquisite textiles with the highest manufacturing standards and providing impeccable service to their customers.

To promote the vital role UK textile design studios play in the international textile arena, UKFT will have a second information stand in the Design hall, demonstrating the amazing creative talents of this sector. Here, the role of UK educational establishments in developing these creative skills will also be brought to the fore. The UK is always the largest national group within PV Designs, demonstrating the sector’s strength internationally.

UKFT will be organising a prestigious invitation-only networking event on the second night of the show (Wednesday 12 February), bringing together the key industry leaders for a night of celebration.

Adam Mansell, chief executive of UKFT, said: “We are delighted to partner with The Clothworkers’ Company and the Campaign for Wool to highlight the unique strengths of the UK textile industry. We will be highlighting the companies blending heritage techniques developed over hundreds of years with the latest technology, as well as artisan craftsmanship and sustainable practices, alongside the creative design studios offering a directional, contemporary approach to prints, weave, embroidery and embellishment designs.”
