Veske at Project Tokyo

04/03/2021

Veske is a Scottish lifestyle accessory brand, creating authentic and versatile bags with the highest care and attention to detail.

Veske

Hand manufactured in Scotland, with over 200 years of heritage and craftsmanship, Veske is inspired by understated, classic design with functional details which will transition and last through seasons.

Veske

Veske’s heritage is rich in craftsmanship and boasts a reputation for manufacturing products that are made to last. Its parent company was first established in 1789, hand manufacturing ropes and hand sewn sails for the Scottish fishing fleet. Skills and expertise have been passed down the generations of the Paton family, who still own the company today.

The considered and concise Heritage Collection is the first range to be seen from Veske and a snap shot into what is to come. The product shapes have drawn inspiration from the company heritage and archive of products, alongside new design ideas from a research trip to the Scottish Mountain Heritage Archive back in 2018. These ideas were intertwined with our designers’ hand writing of classic, functional shapes, with considered details and components.

The materials for the heritage collection have been sourced from within the UK as much as possible, with the exception of the fidlock snap fastening which was sourced from Germany. The main material of the products are sourced from Halley Stevensons, the waxed cotton specialist, who’s factory is only 30 miles in Dundee, from the brand’s workshop in Montrose.

Veske

With a similar heritage story to its own alongside being established around the same time as Veske’s parent company, the brand felt it important to include Halley Stevensons materials in its Heritage Collection and a nod to the past Scottish fishing fleet and natural waterproofed sails and smocks.

Products are available in our Black HS Dry Waxed Cotton, with our new Khaki colourway being added – Project Tokyo are getting the first view outside of the Veske workshop of the new Khaki colourway.
